    UX/UI Designer

    Bishop’s Stortford (but working from home when Covid restrictions are in place)

    They are now seeking a Technical Architect to join their team.  They are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate individual who can put their stamp on things.  You must be able to talk to all levels of staff including stakeholders through to Service Desk Manager.

    The role

    Reporting into the Solutions Architect you will Interface with staff and potentially industry experts and 3rd party consultants.

    We are looking for a talented UX/UI designer to join the Product team. You will be a team player, problem solver and be familiar working with Agile development practices. You will be willing to help build and maintain our design system and always drive to deliver excellent user-centred work.

    The role
    This is an exciting opportunity for a UX/UI designer to join our team in Bishop’s Stortford, Hertfordshire (initially home-based). This position is full time.

     

    This role encompasses both UX design and UI design and you will need to have an understanding of UX and UI design principles and practices. We are a small team so having the ability to manage your own workload is essential.

     

    You’ll play a crucial role in the creation and design of new product features and will contribute to all phases of our product development cycle. The role involves working closely with the front-end development team as well as internal stakeholders to create design solutions that satisfy the requirements whilst also achieving the best user experience.

     

    It will be your responsibility to ensure the design system and all design libraries are kept up-to-date, so a keen eye for detail is needed. You will need to ensure any data, research or customer feedback is carefully investigated, documented and thought about before feeding it into the user experience. You will have great communication skills and a positive, professional attitude. Experience working in a product team is desirable but not essential.

     

    Key Responsibilities include:

    • Understanding product requirements from Product Management and ensuring the design meets them
    • Validating product requirements where necessary
    • Applying the most suitable UX methodologies for each requirement
    • Planning and conducting user research and interpreting the results
    • Creating user stories and storyboards
    • Determining information architecture and creating site maps
    • Creating high quality UI mockups and prototypes
    • Working with the Product Development team on feature requests
    • Conducting usability testing
    • Designing and maintaining graphic user interface elements
    • Ensure all work is documented using our templates and guides
    • Managing the Sketch UI component library
    • Inputting into UX workflows and processes
    • Active involvement in Product delivery
    • Managing design quality assurance processes
    • Helping to manage design feedback both internally and via customers
    • Always having the user at the forefront of all designs
    • Ability to organise and keep track of tasks and maintain design file structure
    • Working together with the organisation to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of all physical and electronic information assets

     

    Required Qualifications and Education:

    ·         UX/UI or Web design: 3 years’ experience required

    ·         Bachelor’s Degree in visual or design-based subject or equivalent practical work experience in design

    ·         Proficiency with design tools such as Sketch, Adobe or Figma to deliver high quality design solutions

     

    Desirable Skills and Experience:

    The ideal candidate would have the following skills and experience:

    • Knowledge of working with relevant design and delivery software (we currently use Sketch, Miro, Balsamiq, Zeplin, Marvel and InVision)
    • Eager to learn and contribute ideas
    • A user-centric mindset
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Attention to detail
    • Experience in applying UX methods (such as surveys, A/B testing and card sorting)
    • Portfolio which demonstrates visual and interactive design understanding, varied UI and UX design work, conceptual thinking and approaches to problem solving
    • An understanding of website usability and accessibility
    • The ability to identify opportunities to improve experiences
    • An understanding of development principles and the technical challenges they pose to design
    • Familiarity with creating personas
    • Creative and analytical approach
    • Experience working in a product team

     

    The following skills are desirable, but not essential:

    • Experience with Angular Material Component Library
    • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, JS
    • Experience building design systems
