    Account Handler | Marine Insurance | Hybrid

    Our client is a global international insurance business built firmly on the premise of holding strong local knowledge of the markets in which they trade. From their London headquarters, they link-up seamlessly with their international offices and global partners to ensure the delivery of ‘fit for purpose’ (re)insurance solutions.

    They now have an exciting role for a full-time Account Handler in their Marine Division reporting directly to their Head of Marine, to provide prompt, accurate and effective account technical insurance and reinsurance administrative support to the business production team.

    The role

    • Working as an Account Handler within the Marine team you will provide effective day to day servicing of existing clients’ accounts. You will understand and adopt the relevant process steps in the Group’s and department’s process maps and standard operating procedures to ensure suitable documentation is held and maintained to audit standards.
    • Your duties will also include assisting colleagues in the delivery of professional level of documentation e.g., slips, presentations, renewal reports and, insurer documentation as well as ensuring high priority tasks are completed correctly and deadlines are met.
    • This will also include assisting with the implementation of the new MRC and the cutover to new Lloyd’s processing systems.
    • They are looking for a highly self-motivated, enthusiastic, and conscientious individual with good communication skills (both written and verbal) to provide support to the team for new and existing business.
    • This position is London based, with a minimum of 3 days in the office/2 days working from home. This may be subject to change at any time as business needs dictate.
    • Key objectives and tasks will be managed to the highest standards by the board of Directors.

    • To ensure that all business handled is in adherence to all internal compliance and external

    regulatory requirements

    • To ensure that all documentation and/or applicable procedures adhere to the standards set

    from time to time by the London Market.

    • To maximise the efficiency of all internal and external IT and/or manual systems.
    • Update the appropriate systems with data relating to new business enquiries, quotes, firm

    orders and renewals (i.e. IBS and Whitespace)

    • Produce all appropriate documentation, including but not limited to Market Reform

    Contracts, endorsements, cover notes and evidence of cover

    • Process invoices and accounting entries on the appropriate systems.
    • Process market closings (premium & technical) via Xchanging via the appropriate systems,

    monitor and/or resolve any queries raised.

    • Communicate with clients and markets via email, telephone and face to face as required by

    the broker/broking team

    • Manage the relevant renewal lists, plus all associated statistics and processes as required.
    • Utilise business processes to ensure that proper monitoring is in place to effectively manage

    reporting such as Contract Certainty and PPCs/PPWs

    • Maintain systems to monitor and calculate profit commissions and annual adjustments.
    • Maintain all workflow systems as required.
    • Assist with the development of divisional systems, practices and procedures as required.
    • Maintain all files and checklists to the required standards.
    • Liaise with the claims and finance departments as required.
    • Provide management information and associated reporting as required.
    • Report any complaints received speedily and in accordance with company procedures.
    • Responsible for the production and maintenance of Open Market and Line Slip MRCs and MRCEs in accordance with the latest London Market Group regulatory requirements

     

    About you

    • Minimum of 4/5 years technical experience within the London insurance market
    • Strong knowledge of Marine placements and experience in MRC generation
    • Experience in the processing of premiums through Xchanging and LPAN production.
    • Strong numeracy and analytical skills
    • A keen eye for attention to detail and accuracy
    • Good written and verbal communication skills
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with and support the team with any issues which may arise.
    • Knowledge of Whitespace
    • Knowledge of IBS – desirable
    • CII exams – desirable
