    Technical Architect | BillPro

    They are now seeking a Technical Architect to join their team.  They are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate individual who can put their stamp on things.  You must be able to talk to all levels of staff including stakeholders through to Service Desk Manager.

    The role

    Reporting into the Solutions Architect you will Interface with staff and potentially industry experts and 3rd party consultants.

     

    Job overview

    Your time will be spent liaising with key staff in the BillPro development team and supporting contributors of the product development process. You will be responsible for making decisions on architectural changes, database structures and approving the design / implementation approach to all changes being made to the application, as well as ensuring that the BillPro development team has received the appropriate training and knowledge required for their tasks.

     

    Responsibilities and Duties

    • Identifying the training needs of BIllPro Platform Development Team members (but not the development support team)
    • Breaking down of large-scale changes/epics or initiatives into manageable or logical chunks for assignment to team members
    • All architectural design decisions related to BIllPro.
    • Explaining to designers and developers what is required and overseeing the progress of changes or enhancements
    • Contributing to changes and improvements with own software development activities
    • Working with Operations, Development and QA teams to enhance security practices.
    • Researching and evaluating good software development practices.
    • Documentation and policing of the coding standards.
    • Conduct formal reviews of team members and the software development activity performance.
    • Identifying potential gaps and or inconsistencies in the development process.
    • Collaborate with key internal departmental stakeholders such as Product Development, Infrastructure, IT Operations and Finance to achieve and maintain our security and compliance accreditation.
    • Provide technological insight on new requirements to non-IT leaders.

    About you

    As the BillPro technical architect, you will be responsible for defining the overall design and structure of the application. You will oversee design and implementation of change requests that are aimed at improving the system and ensuring software development aspects of the product development process for BillPro to run smoothly and will include appropriate emphasis on efficiencies, coding standards, software development practice and security.

    Experience

    • 5+ years PHP / Symfony
    • 3+ years Software Architecture and Design
    • 3+ years AWS / IAAS infrastructures
    • 3+ years MySQL / PostgreSQL / MSSQL Databases

     

    Skills & Qualifications

    • Experience in the software development lifecycle.
    • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in software development.
    • A bachelor’s degree in information systems or equivalent work experience.
    • Excellent understanding of information software design, industry best practices and strategies.
    • Strong analytical skills to analyse change requirements and make appropriate design decisions.
    • Understanding of the business impact of effective code management tools, technologies and policies.
    • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with all layers of the organization.
    • To demonstrate a positive proactive, results driven team approach.
